⌨️ [Hangeul Tips] Typing, Editing, and Deleting Text — The Absolute Basics!
Hi there!
This is Hangeul-i, your friendly Korean word processor coach 😊
Have you ever opened the Hangeul program and thought:
“Where do I even start typing…?”
If yes, this post is for you!
Today, let’s learn the three most basic skills in Hangeul:
Typing, Editing, and Deleting text!
Let’s go~!
✅ 1. Typing Text – Yes, you can just type… but know this first!
When you open Hangeul, you’ll see the cursor blinking.
Just type on your keyboard to start writing.
But sometimes things don’t go as planned…
💡 What if letters don’t appear?
Reason 1: You’re in the wrong language mode.
🔁 Press the 한/영 (Korean/English) key to switch.
(Tip: It’s usually next to the spacebar.)
Reason 2: Text keeps replacing existing letters?
🔁 Press the Insert key to switch back to "Insert Mode".
✅ 2. Editing Text – Made a mistake? No worries!
Want to fix a typo or change your sentence?
Easy! Let’s see how to edit text in two ways:
✏️ Method 1: Select and overwrite
- Use your mouse to highlight the wrong word.
- Just type the new word — it will replace the old one!
Example:
Hello worlx → highlight x → type d → Hello world!
✏️ Method 2: Move and edit
- Use arrow keys (← →) to move the cursor.
- Delete or add text where needed.
✅ 3. Deleting Text – Clean up your mistakes!
There are two main ways to delete:
Key Action
| Backspace | Deletes the letter before the cursor |
| Delete | Deletes the letter after the cursor |
✨ Tip:
Backspace = delete backward
Delete = delete forward
